Social scientists rely on CISER's computing and informational data systems. It is one of two locations for New York Census Research data and provides access to microdata from the U.S. Census Bureau. Endowing the institute will relieve faculty of charges they incur from using this service, and will allow for critical hardware and technology improvements.

An endowed fellowship will provide tuition and a living stipend for a the full career of a PhD student over five years. A typical support package includes a first-year fellowship, teaching or research assistantships in the next three years, and a full fellowship for the final year.
