Scholarships make it possible for students to afford Cornell and to graduate without large student loans. They are essential for keeping Cornell within reach and helping top students pursue their dreams without limits.

Cornell's commitment to need-blind admissions and need-based financial aid makes it possible to enroll students based on their potential, not their ability to meet the full costs of a Cornell education. It also allows Cornell to sustain its highly diverse community. Your gift may provide support to students in any undergraduate college. Gifts of all sizes are welcome.

Term Undergraduate Scholarship

$10,000

Sponsor a student for one year

You can establish a scholarship to help one student for one year with a gift of $7,500. Because of a generous challenge match, your gift will be matched on a 3:1 basis, resulting in a $10,000 gift to establish a term scholarship. All term scholarship donors will receive a profile of their student recipient for one year and be invited to the annual scholarship reception for students and their benefactors. Company matching gifts are included. Planned gifts are not eligible.

Named Scholarship

$100,000 and up

Keep Cornell within reach for deserving students

A new challenge match makes it possible for you to endow and name a scholarship with a $75,000 gift. Through the 3:1 match, challenge funds provide an additional dollar for every $3 you give. Establishing a named scholarship increases access for students to a Cornell education, regardless of their ability to pay. You can choose to establish a fund in your name, or honor a family member, friend, or mentor. Your scholarship fund is an investment in the future of individual recipients and in the lives they touch.

Cornell Tradition Fellowship

$125,000

Support students who make a difference on campus and in the community

"You are here to build a university," said President Andrew Dickson White to the first class of Cornellians in 1865. White and Ezra Cornell felt that labor was an essential element to completing an otherwise purely academic program. In exchange for their labor, the university forgave part of the cost of education for those students who worked. The Cornell Tradition continues the vision of rewarding students who work and serve their communities while obtaining an undergraduate degree. The Cornell Tradition is an alumni-endowed fellowship program that recognizes and rewards outstanding students dedicated to work, service, and scholarship. The program awards approximately 600 fellowships each year to Cornell undergraduates who have significant work experience, make meaningful contributions to campus and/or community service, and maintain a high level of academic achievement.

Hunter R. Rawlings III Cornell Presidential Research Scholarship

Help undergraduate researchers work with exceptional faculty

Honoring Cornell's 10th president, Hunter R. Rawlings, this highly competitive program aims to bring the nation's most academically gifted students to Cornell. This program acknowledges his exceptional leadership of the university and his commitment to undergraduate education. Open to undergraduate students across all academic disciplines, the program offers each student an opportunity to work with a faculty mentor. Together they design and plan an individualized program of faculty-directed research. Rawlings Presidential Research Scholars may present their work at a variety of academic and social events. Your gift can help fund a research-support account that students may use for wages, research-related travel, limited supplies, and summer research expenses. In addition, students with need receive financial support for tuition and to reduce their student loans.
