West Campus house professors are distinguished and energetic senior faculty who are devoted to encouraging faculty-student interactions beyond the traditional classroom. They provide intellectual and social leadership, work closely with student leaders and house fellows, and create opportunities for informal social, artistic, and intellectual programming.

The assistant dean works closely with the house professor and dean to implement the house program and foster the well-being of the house community and its individual members. On a daily basis the assistant dean oversees all house activities and keeps in tune with house life, staying in close touch with residents, graduate resident fellows, house fellows, and all of the house committees and councils.

Readings, field trips, musical events, and discussion groups--all are possible with help from program funds. Student-run committees in each house initiate events open to all.

High energy and fresh ideas are hallmarks of Cornell students. Annual funds help make it possible for students to put ideas into action and give them the resources to succeed throughout their years at Cornell. Most recently, annual gifts funded a public service project in Nicaragua where students built a library during their spring break. They also helped complete the second-floor renovation in Willard Straight Hall, which included a new round-the-clock digital computer lab for student use. And, to ensure that students find help when they need it, annual funds were used to support an on-campus training course for student service professionals in solution-oriented therapy. Gifts of all sizes make a tremendous difference to Cornell students and are put to work right away on their behalf.
